The Company: 
Young Men and Women In Charge (YMWIC) Foundation, Inc.’s mission is to empower and prepare economically disadvantaged and historically underrepresented youth to excel and become leaders through academic tutoring, mentoring and financial assistance programs. This is accomplished by leveraging alliances with K-12 school districts, universities, corporations, and the Foundation’s committed partners.  YMWIC embraces a family model that provides individually targeted services: academic support and tutoring, leadership development, public speaking, junior mentoring, scientific research projects, college readiness and industry experiences in many STEM-related careers. The Foundation received its 501 c3 non-profit certification in 2010 to provide services to youth and young adults in Philadelphia and suburban communities.

The Position:
The position requires a bilingual, English and Spanish speaking, individual committed to our mission. The individual must be able to work in a fluid environment and be a creator in processes. The understanding of fundraising, technology, tools, and virtual systems is crucial for this role. Knowledge of basic accounting is important. The individual should have experience in project management, HR, leading, and mentoring peers. This role will work closely with the Executive Director, HR Specialist and prepare information for the Board of Directors.  

The Candidate must have experience leading and directing personnel:
1. Experience directing a team of one or more subordinates
2. Proven experiences working with youth and adults.
3. Willing to submit Background Checks to include: FBI, Criminal, Child Abuse and Mandated Reporting

The candidate must be able to work in a flexible work environment:

  • Able to work within the YMWIC Corporate Headquarter at West Chester, PA
  • Able to work on some Saturdays to support programs
  • Able to work on fundraising and recruitment events that occur on evenings and weekends
  • Able to work efficiently and effectively in a virtual setting from home.
The candidate must possess the following experiences:
  • Effective planning, prioritizing, and executing tasks in a timely manner.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships both internally and externally.
  • Candidate is both approachable and respectful, comfortable with new technology, virtual meeting platforms and scheduling systems such as WebEx, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and OneNote.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles is a plus.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office/ Excel
  • Good communication skills both written and oral
  • Exceptional Negotiation Skills
  • Considering the culture and accountability of YMWIC, candidate should be comfortable taking the initiative when faced with administrative decisions.
The candidate will perform administrative duties that include:
  • Process student applications
  • Process Grant metrics, reports
  • Process membership payments and document
Establish and maintain Office and Facility management:
  • Ensure supplies and materials are adequately provided by internal and external resources.
  • Ensure that equipment and tools are operational
  • Ensure that general safety rules are adhered on behalf of employees and clients
  • Provide Office Management leadership by ensuring that office space is organized and clean.
Event Planning:
  • Preparing and planning the key YMWIC Program Events
  • Working with venues to coordinate key milestones
  • Planning college tours and visits required for participants
  • Planning and preparing hotel arrangements, dinner reservations
  • Negotiating and discussing milestones with partners and vendors on behalf of the mission
